What ever happened to "Don't judge a book by it's cover"? Looking at these two one might say that the red tomato tastes better. But....my friends, I completely have to beg to differ. After tasting any heirloom vegetable as opposesed to it's hybrid counterpart, most people would say that the hybrid has no flavor. I believe, any time an organism is genetically altered, it has to give up something to gain somehing else. There is only one reason these vegetables are engineered this way...MONEY! The reasons why they alter them are these:
High Yield producing
Longer producing
Disease resistance
Pest resistance
The common denominator all is Higher Yields, meaning more product, less work, more money. We need to demand nutrition instead of aesthetics!!!!!!!!!!
